UPDATE:
It is with a deep ache in my heart that I write to let everyone know that at 6:53am on October 12, 2008, Christopher lost his battle to cancer and passed away at home next to his wife. His will to fight for the love of his wife and son was awe inspiring. We will all miss him dearly- but know that now he will watch over all of us and keep us safe.

I want to thank everyone that has donated to this beautiful family to help with Christopher's medical bills. After speaking with Denise she has asked that in lieu of flowers she would rather everyone donate to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Christopher. With this turn of events, we are also changing the focus of this website and its donation purpose. Rather than paying for Christopher's medical bills, we would like for people to donate in order to help Ethan for his future. Unfortunately at a little over 2 years old, Ethan will only know his father through pictures and the stories that we all can pass along to him, and I would like Ethan to know that because Christopher was such a great man and touched so many peoples lives, that we will all be here for him.

With the deepest gratitude to all who have helped the Seibert's in this time,

Sincerely,
Amber Abney

On May 21, 2007, Marcus and I got a phone call that took our breath away. Our dear friend, Christopher Seibert, at age 32, was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and the doctors told him that the mass had spread to his liver and was covering 50% of it. His mom had died of colon cancer almost 13 years earlier.

Christopher is married to one of my best friends, Denise Agnelly Seibert. Denise and I went to college together, stood in each others weddings, and now Marcus and I are the godparents to their little boy, Ethan. Ethan was just shy of 11 months old when they got the news about his daddy.

We have watched (unfortunately from afar) this AMAZING couple struggle through Christopher’s chemo for the last year, its effects on his body- the weight loss, his pain in his feet, and his sheer exhaustion. Christopher has stayed SO positive, continuing to work a 60 hour a week job where he is constantly on his feet and on the go...that we wonder how he manages to fit in his Chemo treatments every other week (on his day off). (Christopher has been receiving Chemo since July 3, 2007, not willing to stop in order to fight off this cancer as much as possible.)

They have been trying to tackle the financial burden on their own, but they are all tapped out. If we could all just donate a little something to help them out, it would make such a difference. You can read her blog by clicking here.

As of December 26, 2008 at 12:19  CST, the total amount donated is:
$7754.58

Thank you to everyone for their generosity.
